Psalm 57

The Lord's Prayer: And the Glory Forever

1 Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me,
for in you my soul takes refuge.
I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings
until the disaster has passed.

2 I cry out to God Most High,
to God, who fulfills {his purpose} for me.

3 He sends from heaven and saves me,
rebuking those who hotly pursue me;
Selah
God sends his love and his faithfulness.

4 I am in the midst of lions;
I lie among ravenous beasts—
men whose teeth are spears and arrows,
whose tongues are sharp swords.

5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory be over all the earth.

6 They spread a net for my feet—
I was bowed down in distress.
They dug a pit in my path—
but they have fallen into it themselves.
Selah

7 My heart is steadfast, O God,
my heart is steadfast;
I will sing and make music.

8 Awake, my soul!
Awake, harp and lyre!
I will awaken the dawn.

9 I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations;
I will sing of you among the peoples.

10 For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies.

11 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory be over all the earth.

  1. I was reading a book last week that at one point spoke of the struggle of a man's will against God's will and as he was trying to reach a decision, surrendered his will to God's because he was reminded that His was the Kingdom and the Glory forever and ever.

    This particular Psalm is enouraging to me today as was the message and worship on Sunday. In hardship I always seek reassurance of God's presence and He always reveals Himself in different ways as to let me know He is still there, right beside me. This past Sunday, I woke up and thought, I feel like the song "God Reigns" this morning and my daughter and I listened to it on my phone. Sure enough the closing worship song was "God Reigns" and I was once again spoken to, reassured of His presence and His spirit.

    To complement this wonderful Psalm of comfort, I would like to add John 14:27: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

    God Bless.
