All girls going into the 4th, 5th and 6th grade this fall are invited to a series of self esteem workshops at Broomfield United Methodist Church (545 W. 10th Ave.) on July 26, 28 & 29 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The workshops will be led by Gracie Forrey, a 15-year-old junior at
Forrey believes that girls are being pressured by society to be something they are not. Girls are being sent messages that they are not good enough and need to change. Her project, called There Could Never Be a More Beautiful You: A Girl’s Guide to Self Esteem, Friendships and Real Beauty, is designed to counteract that message. The workshops she’s giving will span three sessions, each with a different topic. They will focus on positive self esteem, inner beauty and friendships. The group will discuss ways to raise self esteem through fun activities, demonstrate how what matters is what is on the inside, not the outside, and how to deal with girls who are not as nice as they should be. There is no required fee for them workshops, but there will be a free-will offering to cover supplies. A light dinner will be served. Please contact Gracie Forrey at forrl3@hotmail.com if you have questions or if you are planning to attend (to ensure adequate seating and supplies).
